Looking after the work

  • Keep a record of the original house, the extension and the work completed at their connection.
  • Use the new rooms, ventilation and installed equipment in accordance with their handover instructions.
  • Observe the junction with the existing house after heavy rain. Report staining or persistent moisture promptly.
  • Check with the project team before changing ground levels, adding a deck, attaching equipment or making penetrations near the new work.

When to contact us

  • Water ingress where old and new roofs or walls meet.
  • Unexpected movement, gaps or doors that become difficult to operate.

For an immediate threat to people, leave the danger area and call 111. For urgent building assistance, call 021 041 3920 to check availability. The online form is not an emergency service.

Keep these records

  • Approved drawings and completion records as applicable
  • Handover photos of junctions and drainage
  • Cladding, roofing and joinery care instructions

Keep a dated record of observations, cleaning, servicing and repairs. Share relevant records when asking for help. Only carry out work you can do safely and competently; use the appropriate qualified trade for specialist work.
